What Should I Do If the Brave 4/Pro Automatically Powers Off During Use?

This guide is designed to help you resolve issues related to unexpected automatic power-offs during camera operation. This is typically caused by high-load thermal protection, contact displacement from severe vibrations, or SD card write errors. Please follow the steps below to diagnose the issue.

Troubleshooting Steps

1. Check for Overheating Protection:

• When recording in high-performance modes (e.g., 4K 30fps) or in environments with high ambient temperatures and direct sunlight, it is normal for the camera body to heat up. When heat accumulation reaches a safety threshold, the camera will automatically shut down to protect its internal components.

• Solution: For continuous recording at a stationary position, it is highly recommended to remove the internal battery, power the camera directly via an external USB power source (such as a power bank or wall charger), or lower the recording resolution, while avoiding extended exposure to high heat.

2. Check for High-Vibration Environments (e.g., Motorcycle/Bicycle Riding):

• Continuous high-speed vibrations or heavy impacts in riding scenarios can cause the battery contacts to loosen or shift momentarily, resulting in intermittent power disconnection.

• Diagnostic Test: Remove the battery and power the camera using only the USB cable connected to an external power source during a ride.

  • If the camera works normally, the camera body is functional. We recommend changing the mounting style to reduce vibration (e.g., using a chest strap or headband). If you prefer not to change the mount, contact support for warranty services.

  • If the camera still powers off, this indicates an individual hardware fault. Please provide your order number and the relevant information to customer support for an after-sales warranty service.

3. Check SD Card Quality and Specifications:

   • Branded Compliant Cards: Format the SD card to FAT32 on a computer first (back up your data before doing so), then test it in the camera. If unresolved, replace it with another genuine branded high-speed SD card. If the issue is fixed with a new card, the original SD card is faulty. If the camera still shuts down after a card swap or during a no-card test, support will provide an official AKASO SD card for cross-testing. If the AKASO card resolves it, the original card was at fault; otherwise, we will process an after-sales warranty service.

   • Non-Branded/Low-Speed Cards: Generic, non-branded cards often have inflated speed ratings and unstable write performance, forcing the camera to shut down. We strongly advise replacing it with a branded high-speed SD card meeting official requirements (such as SanDisk or Samsung U3 class).
