🔍 What Are Dropped Frames?
Dropped frames occur when the camera fails to save some video frames during recording. This causes unstable playback — like stuttering or jumps — even if you recorded at 30fps.
❗ Main Causes of Dropped Frames
Slow Memory Card
- The card’s write speed can’t keep up with high-quality video.
- 🗂️ Fix: Use a V30/V60 or higher-rated card.
Overheating
- The camera reduces performance to protect itself when hot.
- 🌡️ Fix: Avoid direct sun and take breaks during long recordings.
High Video Settings
- 4K/120fps or high bitrate modes demand more power.
- ⚙️ Fix: Lower resolution/frame rate if not needed.
Weak Processor
- The chip can’t encode data fast enough in extreme modes.
Fake/Low-Quality Card
- Cheap cards often have unstable write speeds.
- 💳 Fix: Buy from SanDisk, Samsung, or Lexar.
Card Errors or Damage
- Corrupted cards cause write failures.
- 🔧 Fix: Format the card in the camera regularly.
🛠️ How to Fix & Prevent It
✅ 1. Use a High-Speed Card
- Get a V30+ card (e.g., SanDisk Extreme, Samsung EVO Plus).
- Avoid no-name brands.
✅ 2. Optimize Video Settings
- Use 1080p/60fps instead of 4K/30fps for longer clips.
✅ 3. Prevent Overheating
- Keep the camera out of direct sunlight.
- Remove the case during long recordings.
- Record in shorter segments.
✅ 4. Maintain Your Gear
- Update firmware — improves performance and fixes bugs.
- Format the card in the camera — do this monthly.
- Replace old or failing cards.
