đź“‹ Overview
Image abnormalities—such as unexpected color shifts, blurry footage, unusual halos around light sources, or persistent black spots on the preview screen or file—can stem from optical smudges, menu misconfigurations, or software glitches. This step-by-step troubleshooting guide will help you isolate and resolve these lens and image issues.
🛠️ Troubleshooting Steps
Step 1: Physical Inspection and Cleaning
Before adjusting any internal system settings, let's rule out external debris affecting the optics.
Clean the Lens: Use a clean, dry, lint-free microfiber cloth to gently wipe the lens outer element in a circular motion. Smudges, fingerprint oils, or dust can easily cause localized blurring, halos around lights, or faint dark spots.
Inspect for Physical Defects: Check the lens glass under a bright light for any deep scratches, cracks, or internal dust particles that may cause permanent black spots or light distortion.
Step 2: Clear Software Configurations (The Factory Reset)
Certain camera modes (such as "Diving Mode", which drastically shifts color balance for underwater use) or custom filters can cause severe discoloration and image artifacts.
Navigate to the camera's Settings menu.
Select "Reset to Factory Settings" (or "Initialize"). This clears all accidental configurations.
Restart the camera, step outdoors into natural daylight, and record a quick test photo or video.
Step 3: Identify the Issue Category & Next Steps
If the image abnormality persists after the factory reset, identify your specific symptom below:
For Blurry Images, Halos, or Severe Discoloration: This may be a firmware communication issue between the sensor and the processor. Contact support to request the latest Firmware Upgrade Link and flashing instructions to update your system manually.
For Persistent Black Spots / Dark Specks: If the black spot remains fixed in the exact same position regardless of the lighting or environment (and the outer lens is perfectly clean), it typically indicates a dust particle stuck on the internal image sensor (CMOS) or a dead pixel.
