Memory card read errors and recurring formatting alerts are typically caused by an incompatible file system format, an aged/damaged memory card, or a counterfeit low-speed storage drive. Follow these steps to diagnose your card slot.
Troubleshooting Steps
"Please Insert SD Card" / Constant Non-Recognition:
File System Mismatch: Connect the SD card to a computer (PC) via a card reader, manually format it to FAT32, then insert it back into the camera and format it again inside the camera settings. (Note: Formatting erases all data; back up your files first).
Cross-Card Swap: If it still fails to read, swap it out for an alternate high-speed card rated strictly at U3 speed class or higher. If no card reads, check the internal slot pins for physical bending. If the slot appears clean, contact support, and we will mail you an official AKASO test card to isolate the problem.
Frequent "Card Error" Alerts or "Format Error" Screen:
Aged or Worn Cards: If the card surface shows physical wear, its write cycles may be exhausted. Replace it with a new card.
Brand-New Cards: Perform a full FAT32 wipe on a PC first, then format in-camera. If multiple verified cards fail, support will send you an official AKASO brand SD card for testing. If that card still fails, we will process a camera body replacement.
Recording Aborts Automatically After a Few Seconds with a "Slow Card" Prompt:
Happens only at high resolutions (e.g., 4K): This indicates write speed degradation under high-data streams. Perform a deep/full overwrite format on a PC. We strongly recommend using officially certified SanDisk or Samsung genuine U3 A2-class high-speed cards.
Happens at any resolution setting: You are likely using a counterfeit card or a low-speed card with inflated packaging ratings. Replace it immediately with one of the genuine U3 high-speed brand cards recommended above.
