You can easily connect your AKASO action camera to a computer to use it as a webcam or to transfer your recorded photos and videos. Below is the step-by-step guide and troubleshooting solutions if your PC fails to recognize the device.
⚙️ Part 1: How to Connect to Your PC
1. Using the Camera as a Webcam
Step 1: Remove the Micro SD card from the camera.
Step 2: Use the USB cable to connect the camera directly to your computer. The camera will power on automatically.
Step 3: Click the Start menu on your PC, find the built-in camera app, and open it. The app usually defaults to your laptop's built-in camera; simply click the "switch camera" icon to switch to your AKASO camera.
💡 Note: The resolution under webcam mode is fixed at 720P at 30fps.
2. Transferring Files to Your Computer
Step 1: Ensure the Micro SD card is inserted into the camera.
Step 2: Use the USB cable to connect the camera to your computer.
Step 3: The camera will act as a removable disk (mass storage device). Open the drive folder on your computer to view and download your videos and photos.
🛠️ Part 2: Troubleshooting Connection Issues
If your computer still cannot detect the camera or the connection fails, please follow these troubleshooting steps based on your specific scenario:
Scenario 1: The Computer Does Not Recognize the Camera
Power On & Select Mode: Disconnect the camera, power it on manually, and then reconnect it to the PC. Look at the camera screen and make sure you manually select "Storage Mode" (it may also show as Mass Storage or MTP) from the pop-up menu.
Change the Cable and Port: Ensure you are using the original AKASO USB cable. (Many third-party cables only support charging and do not have data synchronization capabilities). Additionally, try plugging the cable directly into a different USB port, preferably on the back of the computer chassis.
Scenario 2: File Transfer Disconnects or Freezes Intermittently
Test a Different Environment: Try using a different USB data cable or test the file transfer on another computer. This helps determine whether the issue is caused by a computer software conflict or a loose USB port.
