If you're experiencing issues with your AKASO camera lens, this guide will help you identify the problem and understand your support options. Please read through the sections below to find the situation that matches yours.
📷 Physical Lens Damage (Scratches, Cracks, or Breakage)
Physical damage refers to visible scratches, cracks, or breaks on the lens glass.
🔍 First, check the lens condition
- Inspect the lens carefully for any scratches, cracks, or shattered glass.
- If the lens glass is damaged, handle the camera with care to prevent injury.
✅ Warranty & Support Options
Physical damage (drops, impacts, or scratches) is not covered under warranty. However, support options vary depending on the situation:
| Situation | What to Do |
|---|---|
| Damage upon first unboxing (DOA) | Contact support immediately with clear photos of the damage. We will review and assist accordingly. |
| Damage caused by AKASO accessories (e.g., mount failure) | Provide photos showing the usage scenario and how the accessory was connected, if possible. |
| Damage caused by non-AKASO accessories | Not covered under warranty. |
| General physical damage (drops, impacts) | Not covered under warranty. |
🔧 Repair Options by Model
- Brave 7 / Brave 8 / Brave 8 Lite: The outer lens cover is replaceable. Contact support to purchase a genuine replacement lens cover.
- All other models (e.g., EK7000 series, V50 series): The lens is permanently attached and cannot be replaced separately. The entire camera will need to be serviced by AKASO technicians.
🌈 Image Quality Issues (Blur, Discoloration, Halos, or Black Spots)
If your photos or videos appear abnormal (color shift, blurriness, light halos, or black spots), follow these steps:
Step 1: Physical Inspection and Cleaning
Before adjusting any internal system settings, let's rule out external debris affecting the optics.
Clean the Lens: Use a clean, dry, lint-free microfiber cloth to gently wipe the lens outer element in a circular motion. Smudges, fingerprint oils, water spots, or dust can easily cause localized blurring, halos around lights, or faint dark spots.
⚠️ Warning: Never use paper towels, tissues, or clothing to clean the lens—they can permanently scratch the optical coating.
Step 2: Clear Software Configurations (The Factory Reset)
Certain camera modes or filters can cause severe discoloration and image artifacts.
Check Diving Mode: If "Diving Mode" is accidentally enabled in normal conditions, your images will appear with a distinct pink or red color cast. Navigate to your camera settings and turn it OFF.
Perform a Factory Reset: To clear any temporary software glitches, navigate to the camera's Settings menu -> select "Reset to Factory Settings" (or "Initialize"). Restart the camera, step outdoors into natural daylight, and record a quick test photo or video.
Step 3: Identify the Symptom & Next Steps
If the abnormality persists after cleaning and resetting, identify your specific symptom:
For Persistent Blurry Images, Halos, or Color Shifting: This may be a firmware communication issue between the image sensor and the processor. Contact support to request the latest official Firmware Upgrade Link and manual flashing instructions.
For Fixed Black Spots / Dark Specks: If a sharp black spot remains fixed in the exact same position regardless of lighting or environment, it typically indicates a dust particle trapped on the internal image sensor (CMOS) or a dead pixel.
Please provide the following information for further warranty service:
- Note your camera model and current firmware version.
- Take clear photos showing the image quality issue.
💡 About Lens Flare / Ghosting
Lens flare (light halos or streaks) is a normal optical phenomenon that occurs when bright light hits the lens at certain angles. If your photos look otherwise fine, this is likely not a defect.
