There are two possible reasons why your camera might not be recording sound:
- You accidentally turned off the audio recording shortcut/setting on the camera.
- The waterproof case completely blocks the sound.
To give you the most accurate solution, we first need to identify your camera version by checking the charging port and firmware code.
🔍 Step 1: Identify Your Camera Version
Pick up your camera and look at the charging port on the side. Which type is it?
📱 Case A: Flat, reversible USB‑C port
- Check firmware: Press the front Power button ➡️ enter the Gear (Settings) icon ➡️ scroll to the last page and select "Version".
- If the version starts with "DL" 👉 You have the 【8328 Version】
🔌 Case B: Older, trapezoid Micro‑USB port (one direction only)
- Check firmware: Follow the same steps to view "Version".
- If it starts with "SN_16" 👉 You have the 【V316 Version】
- If it starts with "SN_53" 👉 You have the 【V53 Version】
- If it ends with "V1K / V2K" 👉 You have the 【6350 Version】
💡 Step 2: Follow the Solutions for Your Version
🛠️ Checkpoint 1: Was the audio recording switch accidentally turned off?
If you have the 【8328 Version】 (USB‑C port, starts with "DL")
Quick fix: From the normal video recording preview screen (not recording yet), press the 【Up button】 on the side of the camera once.
The microphone icon on the screen will change – this toggles the audio recording on or off quickly.
If you have any 【Other older versions】 (V53 / V316 / 6350)
Quick fix: These models do not have a side shortcut. Press the front Power button repeatedly to enter the Gear (System Settings). Scroll down through the menu and look for "Audio" or "Sound Settings". Make sure it is set to "ON".
📦 Checkpoint 2: Physical sound blockage (applies to all versions)
Are you using the camera inside the fully sealed waterproof case?
- Why this matters: The official waterproof case is designed to be completely airtight for 30m underwater protection. This also blocks most sound from reaching the camera’s microphone hole. The resulting audio will be extremely faint or seem like no sound at all.
- Solution: If you are recording on land (e.g., hiking, daily vlogging, non‑water environments), remove the camera from the waterproof case and use the skeleton backdoor / protective frame (included in your original package). This allows the microphone to capture clear, normal sound.
