Why Does My AKASO Camera Lens Fog Up and How to Fix It?

Lens fogging occurs when water vapor condenses into droplets on your camera’s lens due to temperature changes and humidity. Below is a simple guide to understand why it happens and how to resolve it.

🔍 Why Lens Fogging Happens:

1. Temperature Shifts

• Moving from warm to cold environments (e.g., indoors to outdoors).
• Camera heats up during use, meeting cool air.
• Breath or body heat touching the lens in cold conditions.

2. High Humidity

• Wet environments (rain, ocean, pools).
• Moisture seeps into housing seals if damaged.

3. Lens Surface

• Smooth glass attracts condensation faster.

🛠 How to Fix It: By Situation

🪟 1. Outer Lens Fogging (Most Common)

• Solution:
  • Wait: Let the camera adjust to the environment (5–15 mins).
  • Wipe Gently: Use a dry microfiber cloth (never tissues or clothing!).
  • Anti-Fog Spray/Wipes: Apply AKASO-approved lens anti-fog products.
  • Light Warming: Hold the camera in your hands briefly or use cool air from a hairdryer at a distance.

🌊 2. Fog Between Lens & Waterproof Case

• Solution:
  • Use Anti-Fog Inserts: Place AKASO anti-fog inserts inside the case.
  • Check Seals: Clean and lubricate the O-ring with silicone grease before closing.
  • "Spit Method" (Temporary): Rub saliva thinly inside the case lens port → rinse with water.
  • Dry After Use: Open the case, wipe the interior, and air-dry.

⚠️ 3. Internal Fogging (Inside Camera)

• Solution:
  • Power Off & Remove Battery immediately.
  • Dry Thoroughly:
  • Place in a sealed bag with silica gel packs for 24–48 hrs.
  • Store in a dry, warm room (avoid direct heat!).
