Maintenance Guide for AKASO EK7000 / Brave 4 / V50 Series Accessories After Underwater Use

Overview

The AKASO EK7000, Brave 4, and V50 series action camera bodies are not waterproof by themselves. To capture underwater moments, they must be used with a waterproof case and related mounting accessories.

After underwater use—especially in saltwater—salt, sand, and mineral deposits can accumulate in the gaps, screw threads, and sealing gaskets of the waterproof case and accessories. If left uncleaned, this residue can cause rust, damage rubber seals, and ultimately lead to water leakage during future uses. To ensure the safety of your camera and prolong the lifespan of your accessories, please follow this step-by-step cleaning and maintenance guide after every underwater session.

Step-by-Step Maintenance Guide

Step 1: Disassembly & Rinsing (Remove Salt and Residue)

1. Detach All Accessories: Carefully take the camera out of the waterproof case and place it in a dry area. Fully disassemble all mounting accessories, adapters, mounts, and thumbscrews.

2. Rinse with Freshwater: Submerge and rinse the waterproof case and all accessories in clean, room-temperature fresh water for 5 to 10 minutes to dissolve salt deposits.

3. Clean Critical Gaps:

   • Screw Threads & Joints: Salt residue easily accumulates in screw threads, causing rust or jamming. Use a soft brush or cotton swab to clean the threads thoroughly.

   • Buttons & Latches: Repeatedly press the buttons on the waterproof case underwater during rinsing to flush out trapped salt around the internal springs.

   • Waterproof O-Ring: Inspect the waterproof seal for sand or debris and rinse it gently. Do not use hot water or high-pressure water, as this can deform the rubber seal.

Step 2: Drying (Prevent Rust and Mold)

1. Wipe Down: Use a soft, lint-free microfiber cloth to wipe away excess water from the surface of the case and accessories.

2. Air Dry Thoroughly: Place all disassembled parts in a cool, well-ventilated area to air dry completely (recommended drying time: at least 24 hours).

   • Avoid Heat & Direct Sunlight: Never use a hot hair dryer or expose parts to direct sunlight, as high temperatures can warp plastic components and age the rubber seals prematurely.

3. Inspect for Moisture: Ensure that hidden areas, such as screw threads, hinges, and sealing grooves, are completely dry before storage.

Step 3: Inspection & Proper Storage

1. Check the Sealing Ring: After drying, check the O-ring seal on the waterproof case for cracks, hardening, or deformation. Replace damaged seals promptly to maintain waterproof integrity.

2. Store Properly: Once fully dried, store the waterproof case and accessories in a clean, dust-free, and dry environment.

Important Warnings

• Camera Body Is Not Waterproof: The EK7000, Brave 4, and V50 camera bodies are not waterproof. Never expose the bare camera to any liquid.

• Dry Hands Before Handling: Always thoroughly dry your hands and the exterior of the waterproof case before opening it to remove the camera. This prevents water drops from entering the battery or port compartments.

• Remote Control Notice: The included remote control is not waterproof. Keep it away from water and liquids at all times.
