To ensure smooth, lag‑free recording without crashes, choosing the correct memory card is essential. Because the EK7000 has gone through multiple hardware generations, different versions support different maximum SD card capacities.
Follow this two‑step guide to identify your version and pick the right card.
🔍 Step 1: Identify Your Camera Version
Can you power on your camera? If yes:
- Press the front Power button repeatedly to enter the Gear (Settings) icon.
- Scroll to the last page and select "Version" (firmware information).
Match your firmware code or check the bottom battery door:
💾 Case A – Firmware ends with "V1K" or "V2K"
Or the battery door has a small latch and can be completely removed from the body.
👉 You have the 【6350 Version】
💾 Case B – Firmware starts with "DL", "SN_16", or "SN_53"
Or the battery door is a standard slide‑and‑pull design that stays attached to the camera.
👉 You have one of the 【8328 / V316 / V53 / 8816 Versions】
💡 Step 2: Check SD Card Requirements for Your Version
📌 If you have the 【6350 Version】
| Specification | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Maximum capacity | 128GB (256GB cards will cause errors or not be recognized) |
| Speed class | Class 10 or U1 / U3 MicroSD (TF) card |
| File system | Must be FAT32 |
📌 If you have the 【8328 / V316 / V53 / 8816 Versions】
| Specification | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Maximum capacity | 256GB |
| Speed class | U3 (Ultra High Speed Class 3) strongly recommended – these newer versions record higher 4K bitrates |
| File system | Must be FAT32 |
⚠️ Universal Golden Rules for All Versions
-
Buy genuine, well‑known brands
Action cameras demand stable read/write speeds. Always purchase authentic cards from SanDisk, Samsung, Kingston, or other major brands. Avoid unbranded or counterfeit “expanded capacity” cards – they often cause freezing or corrupted files
-
Always format the card inside the camera before first use
A new card may show “card error” if used directly. Insert the card, then go to System Settings (Gear icon) ➡️ select "Format" to format the card inside the camera. This ensures perfect compatibility.
