Introduction
We understand you may have concerns if your IR (Infrared) flashlight appears not to be working. Please note, this is likely not a malfunction but a key feature of its design. This article explains the unique operation of your IR flashlight and how to use it correctly with the Sight-300.
1. Understanding Your IR Flashlight: It's Designed to Be Invisible
Unlike a regular flashlight, the light emitted by an IR flashlight is nearly invisible to the naked human eye.
- During Daylight: The IR light is completely overwhelmed by ambient light and cannot be seen.
- In Darkness: You may only see a very faint red glow at the emitter itself, but it will not produce a visible beam like a standard flashlight.
This is completely normal. The flashlight is functioning correctly—its light is simply outside the normal visible spectrum.
2. Its Purpose: Enhancing Your Sight-300's Night Vision
The IR flashlight is not meant for general illumination. It is a specialized tool designed to work in tandem with your Sight-300 night vision device in its IR (Infrared) mode.
- The Sight-300's sensor can detect this infrared light.
- When the IR flashlight is activated, it projects an invisible "beam" of infrared light that illuminates the scene in front of you.
- This additional IR illumination is then picked up by the Sight-300, significantly enhancing the brightness and clarity of the image on its screen in total darkness.
3. How to Use It Correctly: A Step-by-Step Guide
To see the effect of your IR flashlight, you must look through the Sight-300's screen.
- Activate Night Vision Mode: Ensure your Sight-300 is powered on and switched to its Infrared (IR) Night Vision mode.
- Point the Device: Look through the Sight-300's display and point it towards a dark area or object.
- Turn On the IR Flashlight: Now, activate your IR flashlight and point it in the same direction as your Sight-300.
- Observe the Screen: You will immediately notice the scene on your Sight-300's screen become brighter and clearer. The darkness will be "illuminated" by the invisible infrared light.
- Adjust as Needed: Use the flashlight to scan areas where you need extra visibility. The beam's effect will only be visible on the Sight-300's display.
4. Key Points to Remember & FAQ
-
Q: Why can't I see any light coming out of the flashlight?
- A: This is by design. IR light is invisible to humans. Its effect can only be seen when viewed through a night vision device like the Sight-300.
-
Q: Do I need to be in complete darkness for it to work?
- A: For the best effect, yes. In environments with some ambient light (e.g., city lights), the benefit may be less noticeable, but it will still provide a boost in darker spots.
-
Q: Can I use it with the Sight-300 in Full color AI mode?
- A: No. The IR flashlight is only effective when the Sight-300 is in its dedicated Infrared Night Vision mode. In other modes, the device's filter blocks IR light, so the flashlight will have no visible effect on the screen.

I don't know what is this IR flashlight you mention. I received no IR flashlight with my AKASO night vision scope.
What's more, the resolution is terrible. It's so grainy that I can't tell what I'm seeing, and that after having increased the resolution. Thisi the case in both color and black and white mode.
