If your action camera turns off automatically, several factors may be responsible. The following are some troubleshooting steps you can take to address the issue:
1. Check Battery Level:
Ensure that the battery of your action camera is fully charged or has sufficient power to operate. Different functions of the action camera, such as video recording and photo shooting, consume battery power at different rates. For example, video recording usually drains the battery more quickly due to continuous power - hungry processes like data writing and sensor operation. If the battery level is low, charge it fully and then attempt to turn on the camera.
2. Reset Camera Settings:
Try resetting the camera settings to their default values. This can resolve any software - related problems. Refer to your camera manual for instructions on how to perform the reset.
3. Check your SD Card:
At times, a faulty or corrupted memory card can lead to the camera turning off automatically. A corrupted SD card may cause data - reading errors. When the camera attempts to access data on the card and encounters repeated errors, it may trigger a protection mechanism and shut down. Remove the memory card from the camera and try turning on the camera without it. If the camera functions properly, then the problem lies with the memory card. Replace it with a new one.
4. Check your Settings:
Check the power - saving mode. If it is enabled, the camera will turn off automatically after 3 minutes of inactivity.
Regarding loop recording, if it is not enabled, when the SD card is full, the camera stops recording and will turn off in 3 minutes if not operated.
5. Clean Battery Pin Contacts:
Over time, the battery contacts inside the camera may become dirty or corroded. Use a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol to clean them. This will enhance the connection between the battery and the camera, which may prevent the camera from turning off automatically due to a poor connection.
